After the completion of renovations, The Work+Shop is now fully open for coworking, meetings, classes, and events. The multi-purpose venue, located in a former private home adjacent to Wyoming Community Coffee on Springfield Pike, is a warm, inviting, and peaceful place to work and connect with the community. It also provides a complementary space to Wyoming Community Coffee.
The goal of The Work+Shop is to promote ideas and collaboration. The venue offers coworking space for entrepreneurs, creative professionals, educators, or anyone who works from home who wants a change of scenery. It also has meeting rooms for groups and organizations and event space for larger gatherings, such as graduation parties or networking events.
The Work+Shop also offers studio spaces for rent on the second floor, which serve as permanent offices for local professionals. All of those spaces are currently occupied by writers, artists, and educators.
The former residential structure underwent renovations last fall, including cosmetic updates and architectural improvements that bring the property up to commercial code. It now has two accessible restrooms and a redesigned front porch with an integrated ramp.
Owner Sara Aschliman, who also owns Wyoming Community Coffee, envisions The Work+Shop as somewhere that will bring the community together in creative ways.
“The pandemic changed the way we work and gather,” Aschliman says. “More people are working from home, but still need an occasional space to get out of the house. Likewise, we are gathering socially again, but looking for places other than our own homes to host get-togethers. Our goal with The Work+Shop is to offer this space as another useful and welcoming place for Wyoming and beyond to bridge the gap between work and home.”
Residents can look forward to pop-up shops, community classes, and lunch-and-learn meetings. Event Coordinator Christy Stockton will help Wyoming residents and friends create their own events in the space.
Anyone can stop in The Work+Shop Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by reservation on evenings and weekends. To learn more or book the space online, visit www.workplusshop.com.
