The Junior Women’s Club of Wyoming will hold a Prospective Member Meet and Greet event Wednesday, August 18, from 7-8 pm. The casual gathering will include current members of JWC who can answer questions about the group and its work. Light refreshments will be served as well. “If you are interested in being part of this fun organization and making a difference, or want to get to know more women in your neighborhood,” says JWC publicity chairperson Carrie Geygan, “this is your chance.”
Originally founded in 1948, the Junior Woman’s Club of Wyoming is a non-profit organization that brings women together for the betterment of the community through volunteer and fundraising activities. “One hundred percent of the proceeds from our fundraising efforts are donated back to the Wyoming community and tri-state area,” says Geygan. “We work hard, but we laugh a lot, and we celebrate our wins.”
Despite the pandemic, JWC dispersed $35,000 to tri-state organizations in the 2020 – 2021 club year. Some of these included Wyoming City Schools, Valley Interfaith, Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank, Friends of the Library, Heartfelt Tidbits, and various events in partnership with the City of Wyoming. JWC is well known in town for their fundraising events Light Up Wyoming, the Charity Euchre Tournament, the Shamrock Shakedown, and the Mum Sale, which is running now through August 31.
