The Wyoming Fine Arts Center presents a Pride Art Show June 11 and 12 as the capstone of the Loving Wyoming project and programming celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community.
“What started as a call to action has become a movement in our community,” said Julie Collinsworth, Executive Director of WFAC. “We are so pleased by the overwhelming positive response from the region that the Loving Wyoming program will continue into the next academic year.”
The Pride Art Show kicks off with a VIP Artist’s Reception from 6pm until midnight, Friday, June 11. Admission includes the show of 30 or more local artists, refreshments, music, drag hostesses, and an afterparty. Tickets are $50, or $20 for the afterparty alone.
The show continues Saturday, June 12, with free admission from noon to 6pm.
Loving Wyoming was begun in response to the burning of a Pride flag in Wyoming last year. WFAC received a Pride grant from ArtsWave to “create a more inclusive community and continue to teach students the importance and power of love and acceptance,” said Collinsworth. “The JWC provided an additional grant to continue to provide free art classes to support our objectives.” Free Pride programming will return to the Fine Arts Center in the fall of 2021.
