For the first time since 1977, Wyoming’s football team will compete for the title of state champions in Division IV as they head to Canton Dec. 1 to play Girard at 8 p.m. in Tom Benson Memorial Stadium.
The undefeated Cowboys beat St. Mary’s Memorial Saturday 35-14 in the semifinal to continue their winning streak this season. The team’s amazing record this year comes as the program celebrates its 100th anniversary. They will be going for the school’s second state title in the playoff era (since 1972).
The Cowboys were Ohio Class AA champions in 1977.
Tickets for the game will be on sale Tuesday, Nov. 27, 6-8 p.m. at the high school gym, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school’s main office Wednesday through Friday. The pre-sale tickets are cash only with a portion of each sale going to WHS. For game day ticket information, go to ohsaa.org.
