Across the city, residents braved temperatures in the 90s to turn out for the July 4th festivities.
In the morning, the super-hero themed parade saw police and firefighters, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, classic cars and creative floats from around the neighborhoods…plus all the candy they could toss to spectators!
The Aquatic Center was open with free admission, giving everyone a chance to beat the heat.
And of course, as dusk fell, people gathered in Oak Park to watch the fireworks show light up the night.
