James “Jim” Benken, who served Wyoming since 1966 with the Fire & EMS Department, was remembered this week for his dedication in a memorial service at the Wyoming Fire Department. He passed away on April 14.
In his role as Wyoming District Fire Chief, Benken served the City faithfully throughout a long career. He retired from his full-time job as a teacher in the Indian Hill School District in 2002.
Benken is survived by his wife, Mary, and their two children, Christopher and Cindy. He also had four grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by three brothers, Robert, George, and Donald.
